Early Release on Compassionate Grounds

This service is to cover all of HM Prisons, and service will be conducted remotely.

The Public Protection Group (part of HMPPS) require independent medical advisors to provide a view whether an application meets the requirements in the Early Release on Compassionate Grounds Policy Framework. Advisors must be a qualified doctor with current registration to the General Medical Council, as per the ERCG Policy Framework.

The medical advisor will be expected to review the reports, provide a plain English summary and provide a view on whether the clinical criteria for consideration for ERCG has been met. This will be written in a format that is accessible to non-clinical personnel within PPCS/HMPPS, to inform their decision making.
