Single Suppliers Technical Reasons; Additional Repeat Extension Partial Replacement
Published justification

The requirement relates to the maintenance and partial replacement of the existing Traka key cabinet estate. Traka is the manufacturer and current support provider. Preliminary market engagement was undertaken to identify alternative suitably qualified suppliers; however, no alternative supplier expressed interest. A change of supplier would also introduce compatibility and technical support issues with the existing Traka systems. The direct award is therefore considered justified on the basis of technical reasons and the requirement for additional/replacement goods compatible with the existing estate.

Risks

During the contract term, operational requirements may change, including the need for additional key cabinet units or associated equipment at existing or new locations, changes to the Trust estate, replacement of equipment that becomes obsolete or unsupported, and changes arising from compatibility, software, technology or manufacturer support requirements. These circumstances may require appropriate modification to the contract to maintain continuity and effective operation of the key management system.
