- Published justification
Since the original contract was awarded, NHS England have awarded further funding to the ICB to support the delivery of the training. This additional funding is £379,696 (inclusive of VAT). The availability of further funding was unknown to the ICB at the time that the original contract was awarded. This funding has to be spent by the end of March 2024.
Given the timescales for the additional funding to be spent, it would not be possible to conduct competition and achieve the national targets for the training to be delivered. Changing provider at this stage would also mean potential destabilisation of the training plan in place. Therefore, there is a clear benefit from maintaining continuity of the service delivered by the incumbent provider.
