The decision to transition to electric air compressors, supplied via a separate diesel-generated power feed, was made to enhance site resilience and improve the reliability of the air compressor system. Factair currently provides all planned maintenance, repair, and breakdown support for the existing fleet and holds the technical expertise and operational knowledge necessary to ensure continued reliability and effective support during the transition.

Factair are the sole supplier of the required equipment and hold the associated intellectual property rights.
Factair are the incumbent supplier and maintainer of the Sellafield Ltd Breathing Air Fleet across Utilities, Remediation and Retrievals.
As intellectual property owner, Factair provide all planned maintenance, repairs and breakdown support for the existing fleet. Their specialist knowledge of the equipment, combined with associated IP, means they are the only supplier capable of delivering the required equipment and support while ensuring full compatibility, continuity of service and maintenance of operational standards, the above is in accordance with PA23, Schedule 5, Paragraph 5.
