The authority is seeking Contractor(s) for the delivery of Taxi Services (TRA1001C1) operating across the Lothian area covering 4 geographical lots: Edinburgh City, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian.

Lot one is for Taxi Services across Edinburgh City.

The taxi services will have three elements of usage:

Standing Orders - the provision of a taxi and/or private hire service on a standing order basis (pre-scheduled taxi/private hire service) for the transportation of vulnerable groups who may include but is not limited to disabled (all Taxis must have access for passengers with mobility difficulties, e.g., wheelchair access) or lone travellers, groups with special needs and their escorts, when required etc.

Ad Hoc - Provision of a taxi and/or private hire service on an ad-hoc basis mainly for the groups detailed above but in addition to this providing transportation for business related staff requirements across the members accessing this framework agreement.

Transportation for NHS Lothian - There will be a requirement for the transportation of blood, specimens and equipment. The transfer of specimens by road is in the scope of the dangerous goods legislation and drivers as a minimum will need to have had awareness such as ADR awareness training. What this means for your bid
  • Price carries 35 of 100 points: a 10% discount moves about 3.5 points. The method statement decides this lot, not the discount.
  • “Taxi Services - Edinburgh Region” is a framework: the contest is a place on its panel, not a single contract.

Price arithmetic assumes straight proportional scoring; the tender pack may use another formula.
