Developments around the Omicron variant Covid-19 outbreak gave rise to an urgent need for DHSC to create a stockpile of medicines suitable for use in the Intensive Treatment Unit and End of Life facilities in order to be in a position to treat the population as required in case the Covid-19 outbreak escalates suddenly. DHSC has used the accelerated time limits permitted under the Public Contract Regulations 2015 (Regulation 27(5) for the open procedure) in respect of this procurement.
