Minor Adaptations in Somerset DPS
The way we deliver Minor Adaptations Service in Somerset, is changing. We have a commissioning plan underway to have a new contracting process in place for this service from May 2025.
Minor adaptations are defined in the Care Act 2014 as home adaptations costing £1,000 or less. Minor adaptations are not means-tested, individuals who are 'prescribed' minor adaptations receive them without any financial needs assessment. Adaptations include (but are not limited to):
Rails and Steps
Thresholds
Doorways and Windows Adaptations
Plumbing / Bathroom works
Small electrical works
As part of the re-commissioning plan, we want to ensure that the future service is meeting the needs of the people who are eligible for support, compliant with current legislation, fit for the future and delivers best value.
Market Engagement Event
A Market Engagement event will be held on the 12th February 2025 between 11am and 12pm. Somerset Council are inviting organisations that might be interested in delivering these services, either individually or in partnership with others, to attend. The event will be an opportunity to inform and shape future options. Somerset Council are keen to hear feedback from a range of providers as part of the wider consultation for this service.
Organisations that take part will not be advantaged or disadvantaged in any way in any potential future formal procurement. Commercial confidentiality will be respected. This notice does not represent a formal commitment by Somerset Council to undertake a procurement procedure.
