Why no open competition

The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator due to absence of competition for technical reasons

Published justification

The Light Microscopy Core (LMC) purchased a Yokagawa W1 spinning disk unit to upgrade a microscopy currently housed in the LMC. This equipment will enable the LMC to perform very high-speed imaging of live samples with greatly reduced phototoxic/photobleaching effects. This ability is transformative for the research groups using the facility and opens up the possibility of high resolution, high speed timelapse imaging which has been an unfulfilled requirement for a number of years.
