What is being bought

Published requirement description

Sussex ICB is seeking the views of healthcare providers in relation to specialist fertility services.

The aim of the assisted conception service is to provide a range of services as specified in the commissioners' Assisted Conception Services for Infertile Patients policy, offering equitable access for patients in the geographical area covered.

This is a process designed to help the Commissioner form a view of the best way to commission the service and is not the beginning of a tender exercise. A further tender advertisement will be issued at the appropriate time if required. Feedback at this point will not have a bearing on any tender submissions that respondents may wish to offer at a later date in response to formal calls for tenders. No party will be disadvantaged which chooses not to respond to this RFI but it will be helpful to understand all views at this early stage, so all are encouraged to respond as fully as possible.

Please complete this document and return your responses via: in-tendhost.co.uk/soepscommissioning/a… ↗ by no later than Friday 12th August at noon.

Publisher note: In scope The following services are included in the range of assisted conception procedures: • Follicle Tracking • Hysterosalpingogram • In-vitro fertilisation (IVF), with or without intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), including the use of donated materials as specified in the Sussex Assisted Conception Services for Infertile Patients policy. • Frozen embryo transfers • Intra-uterine insemination using partner sperm (IUI) • Sperm washing • Cryopreservation of eggs, embryos and sperm for fertility preservation • ART using materials cryopreserved for fertility preservation and associated investigations and supply of medications. This specification of service should be read in conjunction with the agreed eligibility criteria. Out of scope The criteria are applicable to patients who require assisted reproductive technologies listed above. They do not apply to: • Investigations for general fertility problems and the primary treatment of conditions found during such investigations • Surgical treatment to restore fertility (for example, laparoscopy for ablation of endometriosis) • Surgical Sperm Retrieval • Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis and services for members of the armed forces and some veterans, commissioning of which fall under the remit of NHS England. Other forms of assisted reproductive technologies are not included. Any new treatments or research trial treatments are not included - patients taking part in trials of new treatments will be considered separately and will be within the governance arrangements of that research trial. New developments in assisted reproductive technologies will be dealt with through agreed local processes. The Specialist Fertility Services, the provider, should not request the patient's GP to undertake any fertility tests or blood tests on behalf of private patients. Private patients should be charged for all tests associated with their treatment. NHS patient's may not be asked to supplement their NHS treatment with any additional privately funded elements.
